In the beginning ...

And out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

-- Genesis 2: 9

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die."

-- Genesis 2: 16, 17

God's original design gave mankind a choice, that choice was clearly placed.

but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.'"

-- Genesis 3: 3

Since the choice was so obviously placed back then, why should we assume that we are somehow immune to a choice in this time?

But the bible is completely true because it was inspired by the Holy Spirit! So how can you say that, you antichrist!

-- The Religious Right

The bible has truth in it, but is not completely true. Each person decides for himself what he believes is true; this includes the Scripture.

But I don't have to know what the bible says, I only have to believe that it is true. God doesn't expect me to know everything; I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and I accept Him as my personal Savior; that is enough.

-- The Religious Right

"Everyone therefore who shall confess Me (Christ's teachings) before men, I will also confess him (that Christ's teachings were taught) before My Father who is in Heaven. "But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

-- Matthew 10: 32, 33

"He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.

-- Matthew 10: 39

And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;

-- I John 1: 5, 6

And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

-- I John 2: 3, 4

"But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

-- Revelation 21: 8
